Our Passengers won't have far to walk to reach us, we come to you and drop you to the door of your chosen destination. ✈️ FLIGHT 218 | HERVEY BAY → GOLD COAST

Sometimes the flights we organise at the last minute are the ones that take the most coordination. 💙

On Sunday, 27 September, our team pulled together a last-minute flight to help patient Kyla and her partner Charles travel from Hervey Bay to the Gold Coast for Kyla's non-emergency surgery.

Volunteer pilot Aaron took the controls of the Community Flights Rockwell Commander VH-RNS and safely flew them south. ✈️

Knowing they would need to stay on the Gold Coast for several days, we also arranged four nights of free accommodation through our partnership with Airbnb.org, taking another significant expense off their shoulders. 🏡💚

Unfortunately, we weren't able to fly Kyla and Charles home following her surgery. But that didn't mean their journey home was left for them to figure out.

We arranged and covered the cost of their return transport, with Atkinson's Specialist Shuttles generously providing us with a discount to help reduce the cost to the charity. 🙏

On 1st October, Kyla and Charles travelled from the Gold Coast to Brisbane Airport, where they met the Atkinsons team and were transported all the way back to their home in Hervey Bay. 🚐

From the initial flight, to accommodation, to getting them safely home, the entire journey was provided free of charge to Kyla and Charles.

This is what community support looks like. It takes volunteer pilots, accommodation partners, transport providers, donors, sponsors and a dedicated team behind the scenes to make journeys like this happen, especially when plans need to come together quickly.
