Why did I become a Cabbie?
I am a FIFO worker on a mine site, and work two weeks on and one week off.
Well, the reason I started driving cabs was I became bored sitting around the unit with nothing to do, and I could do with the money
I generally work the night shift because that allows me time to do things during the day
Of course I love the money, because I am saving up for a deposit to by my own house, and I have just bought a near new Toyota Twin Cab 79 series, and they’re not cheap.

A Day in the life of a Cabbie - John

My name is John (not my real name, but the rest is about right), I started driving Cabs on a part time basis a few years ago when I wanted to take my family on a camping holiday and needed to buy Camping gear.
I drove on Saturday night on a regular basis, and found that the $300 of so I take home a big help with family finances.
Sometime later I became bored with my job and decided to drive Cabs Full Time.
I chose to drive WAT’s (Wheelchair Assessable Transport) because the operators of these vehicles have the ability to build up their own client base, and effectively develop their own business.
Now I am an experienced Operator (after building my own client base) I earn upwards of $55,000 per year. This income is calculated on 50% of the charge for providing transport.
It feels good to be helping people and provide for my own Family.
