This was an interesting job today. This anchor was from a coal ship that was working in Papua New Guinea after the war. The man that organised the job with me is the grandson of the man who brought it to Australia. He was a salvage expert that worked for the Navy after the war. It first went to Syndey to his home. After he passed it was left to his son. He then brought it up Hervey Bay to his home in Urraween. He has passed now and it was time for the grandson to get his time with it. It was sunk in and took a bit of lifting and pulling to get it out of the ground. It now resides near the ocean at Burrum Heads. It took a bit of time at Burrum Heads to get the pin back in and set it up where he wanted it. Even though it was a challenging job, it was rewarding to see it in place and everyone happy. 😊

This one was difficult. It had been sitting in the backyard for quite some time. After all the rain we've had it had sunk. First job was to crack the suction. As soon as i started to lift it i knew we were in for some fun. The Crane would normally lift a container without much trouble from how close i could get the truck to it. I had to lift then job in then lift a bit more then jib again until I could get it off the ground enough to spin it around and get it closer to the fence. Once I got it close to the fence and could then get it in the air, then the real fun started. Underneath the container was full of dirt and mud. I reckon we chiselled out at least 500kgs. We spent an hour with a shovel crow bar and pick, trying to get as much out as we could. There was still a fair bit under it. We were both spent by then haha. The Crane still struggled to get it on the truck. Once on I tied down and took it where it needed to go. Luckily it only had to go just behind the truck. Even so, the Crane was still on it's limit doing that.

This was a heavy bit of machinery. I was told it was around 2.5 tonne but the Crane only just picked it up. I had to jib in and shuffle it to get it on the truck. It was also just under 8 metres long. It is basically a large slasher.

A sign i had to relocate this morning. It was a bit sketchy removing it as I had to get very close to the insulted line. I had a certified spotter onsite to keep an eye on things. At the delivery end it fought us a bit as the bolt holes were just a little bit out. With some persuasion we got it sorted. 😉

Something different today. The new sign for MG in Pialba. Had to unload it off a semi first thing this morning and put near where it was going. I then had to go look after Bunnings for 2 loads. Then back to MG to lift it up and help install it.
