Immerse yourself for a full day in the stunning natural beauty of Bangor, a privately-owned working farm located less than an hour from Hobart on the Forestier Peninsula in Tasmania’s exquisite South East. Encompassing 5100 hectares of native forest and grasslands and edged by 35km of spectacular coastline, Bangor offers a fascinating insight into Tasmania’s Aboriginal (First Nation) and European
histories. The property is also a haven for a remarkably diverse array of Tasmania’s unique plant and animal communities. Your guides will lead you on an adventure that offers inspiration and a rich source of memories that will last a lifetime. You will traverse 25kms of foreshore, beach, coastal forest and farmland on state-of-the art electric pedal-assisted ‘plus tyre’ mountain bikes enabling you to unobtrusively share space with the wedge-tails and wombats, as well as the world-famous Bangor Merinos! Using story telling and interpretation a Bangor adventure will deepen your appreciation of the stunning environment and understanding of the evolution of this remarkable island. You will enjoy delicious morning tea, a shared gourmet picnic lunch and afternoon refreshments at the end of the day before returning to Hobart. We only use the best, freshest and most ethically-produced Tasmanian fare. Conscientious respect for the natural environment is fundamental to our company ethic and sustainability is an imperative. As a result, the Bangor adventure has been designed as a high end but low impact experience. When you book your trip with us you will note that we only operate six days per month. This is because we ride in synch with the tide. There are only two periods during each moon cycle, around the new and the full moons, when the tide is low enough for us to safely use the bikes on the beach without disturbing Tasmania’s nesting shorebirds. Our guiding philosophy and principles offer you a day trip with pick up and drop off from Hobart waterfront when you can experience the full beauty of Bangor, including the glorious beach, without compromising the environment. With two highly qualified specialist guides and a maximum of eight guests on each adventure, you are assured a bespoke experience through which you can discover, explore and connect with this breathtakingly scenic and biodiverse pocket of Tasmania.
