BCSV: Bus and Coach Society of Victoria Bus and Coach Society of Victoria This includes both present day operations as well as the history of current and past services.

The BCSV (Bus and Coach Society of Victoria) aims to cater for all those who have an interest in road passenger transport in Victoria, in particular, and Australia more generally. Current Society membership includes operators, enthusiasts, bus companies and historical groups. The Society maintains photographic and other historical archives most of which have been digitised or are in the process of

being digitised. The Society holds indoor social meetings in March, May, July, September and November at the Hawthorn Tram Museum on Sunday afternoons featuring guest speakers and slide presentations. The BCSV also organises visits and tours to bus manufacturers and operators, farewell tours (for both operators and chassis) and other events for members. The Society publishes Australian Bus Panorama 7 times a year. Six editions are bi-monthly publications which include activities around the states, recent deliveries and disposals, in full colour. The seventh publication is a Special at Christmas which is usually dedicated to one or two items only. In the past, company and manufacturer histories have featured. A number of historical CDs featuring buses from the 60s, 70s and 80s have been published and are available through the BCSV. Details will be published on the BCSV Facebook wall periodically, otherwise those interested can contact Paul Kennelly, BCSV secretary at [email protected] or by calling (03) 9509 1593

OPENING NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS 🚍πŸ₯‚
We did it! 🌟 Saturday 16 May marked the fruition of a long held dream of the BCSV: Bus and Coach Society of Victoria for a dedicated museum where classic buses can be displayed, with the opening of our new Classic Bus Pavilion at Museum of Vehicle Evolution - MOVE in Shepparton.

Over 340 guests from across Australia including BCSV members, supporters, industry representatives, transport operators, and other dignitaries attended the opening with a huge gala dinner.

The pavilion is the result of much behind-the-scenes work since 2022, including fundraising of some $1 million dollars from both the Victorian bus industry and individual donors.

We're particularly grateful for the significant contributions from our major donors: Driver Bus Lines; Dysons; the Higginson family (Mooneevalleycoaches MVBL); John Usher OAM (Invicta / Tassielink Transit); APT & the McGeary family; and BCSV Secretary Paul Kennelly.

The night was capped off with appearances of privately owned vehicles from members of the AUSSIE FLXIBLE CLIPPER GROUP along with '80s classics from BCSV members David Rae and Michael Lancaster.

For those unable to attend, enjoy this video reel of highlights, including the passionate & insightful speech made by BCSV president Geoff Foster, which gave attendees an appreciation of both the buses and operators represented in the pavilion.

A great job by BCSV member Alex Smith for putting together a fantastic snapshot of the night's proceedings, available on his Thebusofdoom's Transport Videos YouTube channel.

On the 16th May 2026 the Museum of Vehicular Evolution (MOVE) in Shepparton opened their brand new classic bus pavilion. The pavilion marked the fruition of ...

With 433 being the number of the week, here is West Newport Bus service HTU 011 (1963 Albion Victor VT17BL, Freighter) at the Newport terminus of the local 433 service to Blackshaws Rd, Altona North (Geoff Foster photo)

Route 433 was extended to Grieve Pde on 20/11/1978 to connect with the new 'tramways bus' 232 service over the West Gate Bridge to Port Melbourne & City at its original terminus.

This 1979 timetable from the Brett Leslie collection illustrates weeknight and weekend services were combined with nearby Route 432 as an economy measure.

West Newport Bus Service was operated by Charles Lucas from December 1944 until his death in February 1962. His estate then ran the service until his son, William, took over around 1970.

The business was sold to Sita in March 1980.

On 4 September 1995 Sita joined feeder Routes 471, 433 & 455 together to create a new cross-suburban link from Williamstown to Sunshine via Newport & Altona North.
