Have you thought about your Christmas Day travel with 13WATS?

With only 31 sleeps until Christmas, the 13WATS Elves have appeared a little earlier this year to remind passengers to book their Christmas Day travel as soon as possible.

Bookings for Christmas Day can be made by calling the call centre on 139 287 or by calling to 13WATS Canberra Office on 6280 4123 (during business hours).

As always, the 13WATS Canberra staff will be keeping a close eye on the Christmas Day bookings from now until Christmas Eve, and if demand exceeds supply, we will have to block out some time slots.

On Monday 10th December, 2012, Canberra wheelchair users started using a new system for ordering a wheelchair accessible taxi (WAT). The announcement by the Attorney General is given here.

As the transport demand is already very high with some periods of Christmas Day already at capacity, please think about booking your Christmas Day travel sooner rather than later.

If possible, please make your bookings by Thursday 21st December to allow our Canberra office to start scheduling.

Dear customers - as the transport demand is very high with some periods of Christmas Day already at capacity, please enter your Christmas bookings sooner rather than later. If possible, please enter your bookings by this Thursday 22 December to allow scheduling to commence. Thank you for traveling with us, in what has been a difficult post-Covid time - there are occasional unavoidable delays due to demand exceeding supply, and we have appreciated your understanding. As internet bookings are not available at present, please book your jobs through the call centre on 139 287. Customers, 13WATS is currently experiencing a very high demand for transport and at times, this may cause delays to the provision of your service. Unfortunately, the impact of COVID has seen a shortage of Operators and Drivers across the region, which means availability of vehicles is reduced. As each taxi is independently owned and operated, 13WATS has no control over working hours - this is particularly problematic outside normal business hours. We are very grateful to the Operators and Drivers who work very hard to assist, but we do request customers be mindful of the potential for delays.

In order to minimise the impact as much as possible, it is recommended that passengers book in their out of hours bookings (so for evening or weekend travel), before close of business on weekdays. With the out of hours bookings entered in early, 13WATS Canberra staff are able to pre-allocate the bookings to obtain a higher degree of certainty the transport will occur as close to on time as possible.

13WATS staff, along with Drivers and Operators, appreciate that at times, the delays may cause inconvenience to passengers, but we are all working as hard as possible within the limitations we are experiencing. Vehicle numbers, and driver availability though, are matters which are unfortunately, beyond our control. Thank you for your patience and for helping us by booking your out of hours travel early.

Just over a month until Christmas! After another very challenging year for all, it seems a little crazy how fast the months have gone... As 13WATS is experiencing an increasingly high demand for wheelchair accessible transport, we urge you to make your Christmas bookings early. You can book on-line, or by contacting the call centre 24/7 on 139 287. If you have any questions, or wish to discuss your particular requirements, you are welcome to call our Canberra based admin office on 6280 4123 during business hours.

We will be regularly monitoring the Christmas bookings from now until Christmas Eve, and if demand exceeds supply, we will have to block out some time slots. Please remember, the 13WATS drivers do an incredible job covering the travel requirements for so many on Christmas Day, but due to high demand and short notice adjustments, there may at times be a short delay. Please remain vigilant in regards to COVID-19 and adhere to Government and medical guidance. A very difficult time for all, but if we all work together, we can slow the spread. Wheelchair Accessible Taxis are still operating in Canberra for use by wheelchair dependent passengers - please be mindful of Government health recommendations. Bookings can continue to be made via the call centre on 139 287 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, or by using the internet or 'book now' button on the page. Good health to all.
