The NSW Taxi Council CEO and Deputy CEO met with representatives from Transport for NSW and the Point to Point Transport Commission earlier today. In attendance was Dr. Armand Casolin – Chief Medical Officer from Transport for NSW to discuss the Coronavirus (COVID 19) and answer questions from the Point to Point Transport Industry stakeholders including Taxis and Rideshare.
Taxi Drivers are being encouraged to carry out the following hygiene practices while providing transport services to passengers:
1). Use alcoholic wipes to clean any hard surfaces in Taxis at the end of each shift or during the shift, if there has been contamination by a person coughing, sneezing or touching. Eg. Door handles, EFTPOS terminals, seatbelt and dashboard.
2). Carry hand sanitiser in your taxi and ensure regular use by driver and passengers.
3). Keep tissues in your vehicle and it is okay to ask passengers to use tissues when sneezing or coughing.
