Let’s play a game!

What prices have you guys seen today for diesel?

Are the servos passing on the reductions or cashing in on every day Australians?

Our locals are still sitting on an average of $2.85 per litre 🤮

29/03/2026

As Ross Transport has said, we need to keep talking about this every single day until Anthony Albanese Jim Chalmers MP and Chris Bowen MP start living in the real world and listening to the people that actually pay their wages. To the ones that actually work hard to make the money to pay their wages.

Our local fuel station in Echuca has been the cheapest for us to fill up at when we can, beating the prices in the larger cities. Yesterday it was $2.99 today. It’s $3.09 today!

With an average monthly fuel bill of around $40,000 to $48,000 in busier months. we’re now looking at $70,000 for this month, I only have a fleet of four trucks. Imagine the bigger companies that extra added cost would be absolutely unbelievable.

. And to all the people that keep writing on the post how can you actually blame labour for this? labour is in power! They are the ones that need to make the change. They are the ones that need to help people. Nobody else can deal with it, they are the party that is in power and they are doing nothing!!!

There is also some obvious things that they can do such as
1. cut fuel excise tax
2. Come up with a disaster relief grant for small transport company’s
3. Financial hardship with lenders to defer payments for a few months while fuel levy catch up.

I’m no politician but even I can come up with some realistic solutions.

As our mates at Ross Transport have said we’re going to keep talking about this every single day until something actually changes.

Our local Angus Taylor MP we need your help. We need direction.

Wollondilly is built on small businesses. Local operators employing local people. And right now, those same businesses are being pushed to the brink.

This doesn’t just affect transport.

It affects the local hardware shop that can’t get stock.
The small landscaping business giving a young bloke his first start.
Families who are now struggling to afford fuel, food, and even getting their kids to school.

This is real, and it’s happening now.

This government is driving businesses into the ground at a pace we’ve never seen before.
1 in 10 transport businesses shut their doors in 2025 and we’re only a few months into 2026. Those numbers aren’t getting better.

We understand the need for reform. But this is not how you do it.

Right now, the pressure is being put on the very businesses that employ people, carry risk, and keep the country moving.

Meanwhile, operators running on ABNs with little to no overheads can undercut the industry, drive prices down, and walk away when it no longer works.

That’s where the focus should have been.

Regulate the ones doing the wrong thing not punish the ones trying to do the right thing.

Because if this keeps going, trucks will stop, businesses will close, and communities like ours will feel it first.

We stand with you guys! Ross Transport

We stand with you guys! Ross Transport

🚛 Right now, the trucking industry is hurting… AND BADLY.

And it’s beyond disappointing… it’s disgraceful that immediate relief is still nowhere to be seen when we have been battling these skyrocketing fuel prices for nearly a month.

Behind every truck on the road is a business fighting to stay afloat.
Fuel prices have surged, and for a mid-sized fleet of around 50 trucks, that’s an extra $30,000 PER DAY just to keep moving.

That’s roughly $600,000 a month in additional fuel costs….money that simply doesn’t exist in an industry already running on razor-thin margins.

Yet operators are expected to carry that burden while waiting 30–90 days for fuel levy adjustments to catch up. Fuel levies and fuel adjustments do not cover this cost but they do help. It does not help cash flow though when businesses are paying fuel bills daily or weekly to keep fuel limits down and waiting up to 90 days for payment.

How is that sustainable?

At the same time, the government continues to benefit, collecting increased GST revenue and fuel excise off the back of rising prices. This is the real kicker!!

Once again, our industry is treated like the bottom of the barrel…
Not the backbone that keeps this country fed, housed, and supplied with critical goods and medical equipment.

And for those who say, “just park the trucks up” — that’s not reality.

Because the moment a compliant operator steps back, a non-compliant operator fills the gap.
Cheaper rates. Lower standards. More risk.

That doesn’t fix the problem, it makes it worse.
It drives down the industry, damages long-term sustainability, and punishes those doing the right thing.

📉 Transport operators aren’t profiteering, we’re absorbing, surviving, and in many cases, sinking.

⚠️ This is not sustainable.
⚠️ This is not fair.
⚠️ And this cannot continue.

We are not asking for handouts, we are asking for urgent, practical relief…. not next month, not next quarter… like last week.

Because if compliant operators disappear…
Everyone will feel it.

We will continue talking about this issue daily until something is done. This issue just doesn’t affect us but every Australian owned trucking business whether they have 1 truck or 100 trucks.

We are proud of the fleet we have and the business we have created over the last 50 years but right now and the last 12 months has been the biggest uphill climb and it’s just blow after blow that we are expected to absorb.

Anthony Albanese Australian Labor Party it’s time to do something positive and constructive for this country and our businesses. Not one business hasn’t been struggling since you came into power. You’re doing NOTHING positive or productive.

The transport & construction industry is being driven into the ground, and our government is the biggest part of the problem.

Fuel prices keep climbing, yet freight rates are expected to stay the same. At the same time, the government keeps taking a massive cut through fuel excise and gst on every litre, while pushing emissions policies that might sound good, but don’t work in the real world.

Let’s be clear, you cannot run a country like Australia without diesel.

Trucks don’t run on ideas, they run on fuel. Right now operators are being squeezed from every direction rising fuel, rising costs, and no real relief.

And this doesn’t just affect transport companies it hits every single Australian. Every load that costs more to move ends up costing more at the supermarket, more for materials, more for everyday living.

Labor and the Greens keep pushing policies that add pressure to already struggling industries, with no real understanding of what it takes to keep transport, construction, and supply chains moving across a country this size.

Small businesses are expected to just absorb it, run at a loss, and somehow keep going.

That doesn’t last.

If nothing changes, trucks will be parked up. Businesses will shut down. And the flow of goods across this country will slow right down and everyday Australians will feel it fast.

Cut fuel excise.
Stop piling on pressure.
Back the industries that actually keep Australia moving. Instead of sending money overseas and supporting other country’s those funds should have been pushed back into Australian businesses to put back into the economy!

This isn’t spin, it’s reality.

If transport stops, Australia stops.

This is our mate albos way of balancing the budget!
