Arising from the illegal ride sharing arrangements facilitated by Uber, we have just registerd the name TAXI DRIVER ACTION, to be an Incorporated Association registered with NSW Fair Trading. There will soon be a whole lot of new pages on the website www.tda.net.au dedicated to this new Association. Your joining the ATDA also joins you up with TDA Inc. ociation, which now is run by people who seem to follow the interests of the Taxi Networks, Plate Owners, Cabcharge and Operators. For a while we tried to maintain the ATDA as an Incorporated Association, but could not get the continued support of enough drivers dedicated to working for other drivers, and willing to run an Association as responsible Officers. Just too big an ask. So now we are a simple Association of Taxi Drivers. If you want to do something , you are absolutely welcome. Our new Articles of Association are on the web. TAXIS are our sponsers and are assisting with the registration process to make it a one-stop driver registration for the ATDA and TAXIS. TAXIS.NET.AU is about to release its long awaited web based programme, with both Android and I-Phone Apps, for Passenger job offers and payments direct to Taxi Drivers on- line. The credit surcharge of 5%, payable by the passenger, and half the standard "booking fee" funds the system, and pays 20% of the surcharge to the driver. It all works on your mobile smartphone and receipts go by e-mail. It will have a card swiper for unregistered street or rank work, but the objective is to have registered passengers and fast transactions. Because we are also taxi drivers and short of time and sleep, all our activities are planned as web-based. There certainly is a need for face-to-face and group meetings, and if you wish to be the organiser -- please feel free to go ahead. Better still, if you join up now through TAXIS, your annual membership of the ATDA is free (for the time being) and you get a TAXIS / ATDA membership card with all its benefits. This is our new and revised website. The old one got hacked and infected just after we got involved in one of our many issues taken up on behalf of cabbies.
