Today, I picked up an old oak log that had been down for several years. If it was green , there’s no way I could have picked it up like this! I would have had to put one end on my truck, then get the other end on my truck, mean while worrying about the first end sliding off!
One advantage of my knuckle boom crane is that I can bring the load closer to the mast allow me to pick up heavier loads.
The sap wood is rotten, but the heart wood will make great firewood next year!
Cleaning up down trees helps reduce fire fuel for next years fire season. Have heavy logs or fallen trees that need to be moved? Call the Claw! 971-824-9236

I was hired to clean up two down oak trees near a house in Carlton, Oregon.

Once the logs reach a certain size or weight, I have to used chains. One log was so big and heavy that I had pick up one end at a time.

This is where the knuckle boom really shines. By bring the load closer to the mast, I can pick up more weight and handle the bigger logs.

I then transferred to logs over to my other truck and trailer and hauled them to a mill that specializes in oar lumber.

Have a big tree, heavy logs, or a tough heavy load that needs to be moved? Give me a call, 971-825-9236, I have the equipment to handle it!

Please turn your volume up!
Here is a little video of after I got the boulders out of the driveway, delivered and place at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Last Thursday, I was hired to remove boulders from a driveway in Salem and deliver them to a church.
The boulders had been dumped there years ago and the home owners had planned to break them up for landscaping.
Because of the driveway layout, I had to back in and load them from the rear of my truck—-where I could not see the boulders as I grabbed them. A couple I had to pull alongside the truck to get them closer to the mast, so I could pick them up!
5 boulders weighing 600-2,000 pounds each were loaded in 6 minutes!
Do you have something big or heavy in your driveway that you want to get rid of?
If so, call me! 971-825-9236

The other day, I hauled firewood logs from a landing to a friend’s house, where he can cut, split, and stack everything in one place.

The logs were a mix of fir, maple, and oak left over from a logging operation on his property about a year ago.

This is Jon Hemstreet, owner of Thomson Mill Specialty Lumber. They have a portable bandsaw mill, kiln dryer, and a planer/ molder for your custom lumber needs, 971-241-3273.

We figured it made it more sense to haul the logs to his house rather than cut and split them at the landing, then handle all those smaller pieces multiple times!

Sometimes, moving the big stuff first makes everything else easier.

Today, I delivered two cords of firewood to a repeat customer. They don’t have a woodshed, so in the past I dumped the wood on the asphalt and they cover it with a trap. The problem was that the wood on the bottom would eventually get wet.
This year, I brought it in a tote. The wood stays off the ground, they will cover it with a tarp and they don’t have to stack it!
As you can see, I cut out one side for easy access. The firewood is stacked, not throwing. Many people just throw the wood into the container, but I prefer to stack it so the customer can see and measure the volume they received.
When I am splitting the firewood, it takes about the same amount of time to stack it into the tote as it does to stack a rick on the ground.
Today, I was able to deliver two cords in about the same time it takes me to hand load my dump trailer and deliver one cord.
This is an example of how I look at what my customer has and find ways to improve their situation.

I started the morning at McMinnville Greeters at ā€˜Graze Crazeā€, a business that continues to grow and contribute to our community.
Afterwards, I attended the ribbon cutting for the ā€œSerenity Garden ā€œ at ā€œWillamette Valley Medical Centerā€. I was grateful to contribute my time and equipment, along with other local businesses and individuals, to help create this peaceful outdoor space just outside the Cancer Treatment Center.
The garden gives families waiting for loved ones a place to step outside, enjoy nature, and decompress instead of sitting in their cars.
One of the hospital employees thanked everyone involved and said how much she appreciates having such a space right outside the doors.
In the picture, you can see the recognition note, one of the boulders, and the metal artwork I help move into place—now freshly painted!
Moving artwork. Moving boulders. Contributing to the community.

Someone was so nice to have the logging company deck the trim cuts from the logs, next to the road.
The VFW firewood organization was given the privilege to get access to them. I will be hauling to them when the opportunity presents itself.
Some of the logs are a longer diameter that my 42ā€ open grapple cannot grab!
I will get videos of how I can over come that issue a little later.
The other issue, as you can see, the logs are above the road, most within my reach. However, it’s a large game of ā€œpick up sticksā€ as in I have to be careful and make sure they don’t come sliding down and pinch me between my truck or just plan damage my truck.
I may end up getting some down to the road and turn the to be parallel to the road making them as a barrier to protect me and my truck.
Good move?

Had a customer call me up to move boulders on their place. They were delivered on one side but they needed them on the other side of the property.
As you can see, I am parked on a slope, ten to fifteen percent grade, meaning in ground goes down 1-1.5 feet in ten feet. I wheel chalked all four wheels!
I boulders weighed between 1,500 to 2,500 pounds each, that’s why I put only three per load!
I pulled down the hill then had the back up the hill to place them off where they are going to build the rock wall.
When I was done, the grass was rolled over not torn up.
If an excavator, skid steer or front end loader tractor was used, they would haul one boulder at a time and would have torn up the grass which would cause major erosion on that hill side.
Efficient moving. Very little surface ground disturbing.
If you have objects you think I can move, give me a call, 971-825-9236
