Had an interesting few hours tonight on an urban archeological dig in the garage storage room in my apartment building tonight. A longtime resident in my building asked me to recover a bookshelf from her storage room and I eventually was able to retrieve it after it had about 15 years collecting dust and being covered by multiple long lost roommates belongings that had been layered over it. What a trip. Abandoned boxes full of pictures of Beverly Hills High School photos from the 90’s, various pieces and garments from couture fashion houses circa late 80’s, boxes of very large sized women’s stilettos(I’m thinking huge drag attire), and non-stop stories from the 34 year resident of the building. What a trip! Just another episode from Rocker’s Relief. Man this business is better than Storage Wars because my clients tell the history as I’m peeling away decades of life debris and finding that special something that they thought was stashed in there somewhere. And it was, along with some great stories and a couple of mementos she decided I should have. Now check this out I was given a huge cocktail glass looking vase, and some costume jewelry earrings from a fashion shoot from the early 90’s. Both have near zero actual value, but the stories behind them are priceless, at least to me. I mean I was being told to toss them into the (bound for the dumpster)trash box. Uhh, are you seriously throwing those away, I blurted out. She answered, “why, do you want them?” Oh yeah!!! 😉 I’ll take them and then I’m thinking I may be developing a wicked addiction and that I should be paying them for this type of work.
