In 2012 I opened up hope48 and it was the best thing I could have done for myself. This year brought a ton of joy and a ton of sadness to my life and those things together = stress! .......a sure reason for me to get crafting! :)
***How My Shop Got It's Name***
When I was three years old I was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor, a childhood cancer, and Hope is what pulled us through. In January of 2012,
my dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer. It has been a very hard year but our family believes that with Hope we will pull through, as we always have. My dad means the world to me, so I took the word Hope and paired it with 48, which is his birth year and flipped around, 84, is mine. We have a special bond that we will always share and I'm so happy that I came up with this name for my shop.
****SHOP FOR A CAUSE****
As of 2013, 48 cents of every purchase from hope48 will be donated to The Marty Lyons Foundation, Inc. is a non profit corporation that grants a wish to children ages three to seventeen with a terminal or life threatening illness. I was once a recipient of the Marty Lyons Foundation when I was just four years old. In 1988, Marty Lyons himself came into my hospital room while I was undergoing cancer treatment and asked me what my wish was. I told him that I wanted to go to Disney World. Next thing I know, he was sending a limo to pick up me, my sister and my parents to take us to the airport for an all expense paid trip to Disney World. It was a magical time in my life and made me forget for a short time that I was battling cancer. I only wish the same for every other child out there who has gone through or is going through the same battle.
2013 - The Marty Lyons Foundation: $102.24
2014 - The Marty Lyons Foundation: $86.88
