At Angel Flight Central, our board members don't just support the mission, they live it!

Volunteer pilots and board members Bill Keen and Joe Ratterman recently brought Tom home from Denver to Kansas City. While they help guide Angel Flight Central as board members, they also continue to spend their time in the cockpit helping passengers get where they need to be.

We're grateful for volunteers like Bill and Joe who give their time to make these flights possible and help ease the burden of travel for our passengers.

Thank you, Bill and Joe, for another great flight and for helping Tom get home safely!

✈️ What kind of aircraft do Angel Flight Central volunteer pilots use?

Most Angel Flight Central missions are flown in small, single-engine aircraft that typically seat four to six people. Some of our volunteer pilots also fly larger twin-engine airplanes, like the one pictured here!

Every flight is a little different, so the aircraft used depends on which volunteer pilot is available and best able to help with the trip. Because our pilots donate both their time and their aircraft, passengers don't choose a specific plane or pilot. Instead, we match each flight request with a volunteer who is ready to lend a hand.
No matter what airplane you're in, every flight is powered by the kindness of volunteer pilots who are helping neighbors get where they need to go. ❤️
One of the unique parts of flying with Angel Flight Central is getting to experience general aviation up close. If you fly with us more than once, there's a good chance you'll travel in a few different types of aircraft and meet several of the generous pilots who make these flights possible.

No matter what airplane you're in, every flight is powered by the kindness of volunteers pilots who are helping neighbors get where they need to go. ❤️

Tammy travels from Hatton, North Dakota to the City of Hope in Chicago for immunotherapy, and on this trip, she was flown by volunteer pilot Chuck!

Each flight is different, but they all share the same purpose, helping passengers get to the care they need, thanks to generous volunteer pilots who donate their time and aircraft.

We are so grateful for Chuck and all of our volunteer pilots who help make it possible for patients like Tammy to reach the care they need. 💛

Sarah needed to travel from Omaha to Salt Lake City to receive a prosthetic eye after almost two years of waiting. Through our partnership with Southwest Airlines, we’re able to help passengers travel long distances by providing free flights when trips are too far to fly by small plane with our volunteer pilots!

Thank you, Southwest Airlines, for helping make trips like Sarah’s possible and for supporting the patients and families we serve every day. 💙

Cub Scout Pack 61 from Wheaton, Illinois, recently came together to create care packages for Angel Flight Central passengers. An incredibly thoughtful gesture that reflects the spirit of giving back in honor of volunteer pilot Marc Damon and the impact he made in his community.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped bring this project to life. Thank you to volunteer pilot Bob Hamilton for connecting with the scouts and sharing more about our mission, and to volunteer pilot Mikael Asfoor for flying the donated supplies to Kansas City.

Because of this effort, our passengers will receive care packages filled with thoughtful items to make their journey a little more comfortable.

Thank you to Cub Scout Pack 61 for your kindness, teamwork, and for helping us bring comfort and care to our passengers in such a special way. 💙✈️

Even without leaving the state, this journey would have meant nearly 6 hours on the road.

Rosario traveled from Garden City to Olathe for radiation treatment for breast cancer, with her daughter Kiahna right by her side. What could have been a long, exhausting drive became a much shorter trip thanks to volunteer pilot Chris Hope, giving them more time together and less time worrying about the journey.

Thank you, Chris Hope, for flying this family and bringing a little extra hope when it was needed most. What a fitting last name!

Sometimes the most powerful flights start with a simple conversation.

When Peyton needed a way to get to Denver for care, it was a previous Angel Flight Central passenger and a hospital administrator who made the connection. Because they chose to share our mission, Peyton found a way forward.

Volunteer pilot Jerry stepped in, flying Peyton to Denver, staying the night, and bringing her safely back home the next day. What makes this story even more meaningful is how it began. A referral. A recommendation. Someone taking a moment to say, “I know something that might help.”

You never know the impact of simply telling someone about Angel Flight Central. One conversation can turn into a flight, and that flight can change everything. ✈️💙

Thank you Jerry for all that you do!
Help us keep these stories going, share our mission!

Gwendolyn has been flying with Angel Flight Central since 2021, and over the years many of our incredible volunteer pilots have helped get her where she needs to go.

Back in November of 2022, volunteer pilot Dean had the chance to fly Gwendolyn for the first time. A few days ago, he had the opportunity to fly her again, and these photos capture that full circle moment.

What makes this so special is not just the flights themselves, but the relationships built along the way. Familiar faces and a community that shows up time and time again.

Thank you to Dean, and to all of the pilots who have been part of Gwendolyn's journey. 💙

Big news… we’re taking our flights to new heights 🎈

Starting today, Angel Flight Central is officially accepting hot air balloons into our volunteer fleet! This exciting expansion will allow us to bring patients to their appointments with a little extra scenery along the way.

Just imagine floating peacefully above the clouds on your way to care… 🌤️

April Fools!

While balloons might not be the most efficient way to get to a medical appointment, our incredible volunteer pilots are. Every day, they donate their time and aircraft to ensure patients get where they need to go, safely and efficiently. ✈️💙

Volunteer pilot Steve brought along his son Aaron as his mission assistant, making this flight a true family experience! Together, they helped Richard and his wife Kathy travel from Moccasin, Montana to Minneapolis, Minnesota to get the care they need.

Richard and Kathy are passengers of our friends at , and we were honored to help with this leg of their trip. It’s partnerships like this that make it possible to get patients where they need to go, no matter the distance.

Steve and Aaron, thank you for making a difference together. And Richard and Kathy, we’re so honored to be a small part of your journey. 💙✈️
