Valley View Ferry We are a free toll ferry located on the Kentucky River on Hwy 169 Tates Creek Rd in Madison/Jessamine County. Unless closure for high water or maintenance.

Open Monday-Friday 6am-6pm and Saturday-Sunday 8am-8pm. Check daily status on page. We are a toll free ferry and do not accept tips!

OK, pictures for 28 May 26. A lot of sanding/needle gunning today. Brian is on the needle gun with DW running the vacuum so that no paint chips enter the water. Shelby is running a sander on the coach top and pilot house as Parker does the detail work. Painting tomorrow.

PICTURES OF PROGRESS DAY TWO.

OK, the paddle wheel has been removed and is being taken to the shop to have the current blades removed. We will be doubling the amount of blades to reduce the shock loading on the shaft couplings, drive motors and hydraulic systems. Additionally both engines, generators and the air compressor received a major tune ups. It did not rain on us, it rained around us !!!!!! Back at it tomorrow.

***** VR UPDATE *****

OK only one picture today because we were so busy. In the picture you will notice the tall weeds were cut back quite a bit, this is to accommodate the three new light poles going in ABOVE the wall on the Madison County side, more light will make the boarding/deboarding process safer. The paddle wheel has been pressure washed in anticipation for new/more paddle wheel blades being installed. The ramp on the Madison County side is in the process of being needle gunned and we’re hoping to have it painted by end of the day tomorrow.

We will continue to keep you all informed of our progress.

***** VR UPDATE *****

AS PREVIOUSLY POSTED OVER THE LAST MONTH. We will be closed this week for a Voyage Repair Period which we do every 2 1/2 years in between drydock periods.

SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BE DOING?
*Removing the paddle wheel and replacing blades.
*Installing new one piece billet shaft couplings.
*Repainting the towboat.
*Repainting the ferry barge.
*Installing new bilge pumps in the ferry barge.

So it’s a busted knuckle, dirty, and loud week for our guys, that’s the bad news. It is also getting A LOT of preventative maintenance done so that we don’t have unexpected shutdown, that’s the good news.

WE WILL KEEP YOU ALL UPDATED ON OUR PROGRESS.

***** FERRY BIRTHDAY UPDATE *****

The Valley View Ferry is made up of seven dedicated employees, THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL IS OUR BOOKKEEPER, April Willis. We like to call her the “MONEY LADY” and she is the one makes sure that the bills get paid, the hours are correct, the drug testing program works and orders anything the ferry needs IMMEDIATELY. None of what we do is possible without the “MONEY LADY”, happy birthday April we truly appreciate everything you do for the community.
