Lowcountry Valet turns 15 today.
What’s wild is that my daughter is 14.
In many ways, I learned how to be a father and a business owner at the same time. They grew up side by side. I’ve often thought of them as my two children—but the truth is, they raised me just as much.
As I matured, so did they. And the more I learned—about patience, accountability, humility, and responsibility—the more they each seemed to thrive. Growth wasn’t automatic. It was uncomfortable. It required looking honestly at myself, especially when I didn’t want to.
Along the way, I lost people. Some moved on. Some outgrew the version of me I was at the time. And some had the courage to tell me exactly where I was falling short. Those moments forced me to see past my own pride and ego and become a better leader. Not all lessons came gently—but all of them mattered.
I’ve never been great at celebrating what’s already been achieved. My personality is wired toward improvement—toward potential, not milestones. That mindset has shaped the company from the beginning. The goal was never perfection. It was progress.
Even our vintage vehicles played a role in that education. They’re unpredictable by nature, and they taught me how to thrive in chaos, act decisively, and plan for the unknown. Those lessons turned out to apply far beyond transportation.
But when I look back, the thing I remember most isn’t the vehicles or the events.
It’s the people.
I’ve been endlessly blessed to be surrounded by people of character—people who showed up, believed in something bigger than themselves, and helped carry the weight. Lowcountry Valet has always been bigger than me because of them.
Fifteen years in, there’s still so much room to grow. And I hope I’m always fortunate enough to keep learning—through challenge, through humility, and through the influence of great people by my side.
