New Heritage Rail in Saskatchewan and we hear on good authority it will be Alco powered! Looks like another great effort in preserving equipment is moving forward!
🚂✨ A new chapter in Saskatchewan’s railway story is beginning.
The Prairie Sky Heritage Railway, led by RERA (Railroad Equipment Restoration Association of Canada), is working to bring historic rail travel back to life in Regina and southern Saskatchewan.
Our long-term vision is to restore vintage CP 2200 series coaches repatriated from the US and create a living heritage railway by 2027.
In the meantime, we’re exploring options to bring classic Budd passenger cars to Saskatchewan as soon as possible, which could allow for limited excursions out of Richardson ahead of the full launch.
This is just the beginning of a once-in-a-generation project to preserve our railway heritage and create a new attraction for families, visitors, and rail fans. Stay tuned for how you can be part of history!
