Polling Day is on Saturday, 3 May.
To ensure that persons with disabilities can vote safely, independently and in secret, the Elections Department Singapore - ELD has put in place the following measures:
For persons with physical disabilities:
• Special drop-off points near voting areas
• Barrier-free voting areas
• Available wheelchairs
• Priority queuing for voters with disabilities and their caregivers
• Portable lap polling booths for voters who cannot reach the polling booth panel
• Funnels to drop ballot papers into boxes
For persons with visual impairment:
• Magnifying viewers can be used on ballot papers
• Stencils with cut openings that align with boxes on the ballot papers where voters mark their choice are available
• An Election Official will insert the ballot paper into the stencil, pass it to the blind voter, and read out the order of the candidates' names, before the voter marks his choice
Upon request, Election Officials can help voters mark their ballot papers. They are under oath to keep the voter’s choice secret.
