Today we celebrate the International Day of Older Person

A time to celebrate the value of older people and acknowledge their contributions to our communities; in the work place, as volunteers, as caregivers and as whole people, with dreams, aspirations, wisdom and experience.

International Day of the Older Persons was observed for the first time in 1991 so has been running for over 30 years. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the issues affecting older persons. It also provides an opportunity to take steps to demonstrate respect. Older people are caretakers and custodians of traditions and so much knowledge and information are held within their experiences and memory.

It’s a great opportunity to share ideas, learn from each other and celebrate the people and stories that make Driving Miss Daisy so special.
One thing we’re taking away from the weekend is focusing on getting our Outing Clubs up and running again.
