NITT, AAI Sensitise State Transport Commissioners on Smart National Transport Data Bank

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), in collaboration with Arab Asia Investment (AAI) Limited, through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, on Monday, 13 October 2026, held a one-day retreat for Commissioners of Transport from the 36 states of the federation on the proposed Smart National Transport Data Bank.

Held at John Wood Hotel, Abuja, the retreat aimed to sensitise the commissioners on the project’s implementation strategies and the roles of state governments in its commencement.

Dignitaries at the event included the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Engr. Olufunsho Adebiyi; the Director-General/Chief Executive of NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah; NITT Bursar, Dr Hassan L. Abdulkadir; Director, Transport Research and Intelligence, Dr. Baba Ibrahim Mundi; the state commissioners; and representatives of AAI Limited, among others.

NITT PARTICIPATES IN PRE-ORIENTATION FOR 100 EBONYIANS SPONSORED FOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT TRAINING

NITT Ebonyi Outreach Learning Centre, on behalf of the Director-General/Chief Executive, participated in the Pre-Orientation Symposium organized by the Ebonyi State Ministry of Skill Development and Job Creation for 100 Ebonyians approved for intensive training in Mechanical Heavy Equipment Operations and Safety at NITT Zaria.

The symposium held on Monday, 12th October, 2026 at the Ministry's Board Room, Block 8, Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, following the approval of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, GGCEHF, Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, for full sponsorship of the training including accommodation, feeding and stipend.

The Honourable Commissioner, Prof. Nwogo Ajuka Obasi, disclosed that the training covers Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer, Mobile Crane, Forklift and Industrial Tractor, and is targeted at preparing local manpower for the State's industrial drive, including the newly approved Abakaliki Cement Industry.

In his goodwill message, the DG/CE, Dr. Bayero Farah, represented by Mr. Nnamdi Anyanwu, Liaison Officer, Ebonyi Outreach Learning Centre, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in NITT and assured of the Institute's readiness to deliver quality training covering registration and certification for licensing (Classes F, G, E, H), simulation and practicals on the Heavy duty equipment.

He charged the trainees to be disciplined and focused, noting the high market demand for certified operators.

The trainees are expected to depart for NITT Zaria within a short time for the 3-month intensive programme and will return second week of December, 2026.

NITT HOSTS RUACH BUSINESS CONSORTIA OVER PROPOSED STRATEGIC COLLABORATION

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, hosted Ruach Business Consortia Limited, Abuja, for a formal presentation on its proposed strategic collaboration with the Institute.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Director-General/Chief Executive (DG/CE) of NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, one of the newly appointed directors in the Institute, Dr. Moses Oluremi Adeyi, described the proposed collaboration as timely and strategic. He stressed the need for the Institute to continually upscale its approaches towards achieving its institutional goals and enhancing its relevance in the global transport and logistics sector.

Presenting the consortium’s mission, the Managing Partner of Ruach Business Consortia Limited, Engr. Dr. Kayode Ashaolu, outlined a framework for collaboration aimed at strengthening executive education and promoting international best practices in transport and logistics management.

He further explained that, as a knowledge-based consortium, operating within multicultural spaces, they would leverage NITT’s institutional strengths, human resources, expertise and wealth of experience to create new systems of value and foster sustainable knowledge-based development.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration towards advancing professional development in the transport and logistics sector.
