Today is a moment of great joy and pride for the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja and for the entire Utanga–Becheve communities as Padre Paul Avenda Abisi is ordained a Catholic priest.
Padre Paul’s journey to the priesthood is a clear testimony that hard work, patience, and steadfast faith truly pay off. His vocation was not achieved overnight; it was nurtured through years of discipline, sacrifice, prayer, and unwavering commitment to God’s call. Despite challenges and moments that could have discouraged him, he remained focused, humble, and obedient, trusting God’s timing and purpose for his life.
His ordination as the third priest from St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Utanga, is a significant milestone. It shows that Utanga is fertile ground for vocations and that when families, the Church, and the community support God’s work, great fruits are produced. Padre Paul’s life stands as a beacon of hope and encouragement, proving that with perseverance and faith, lofty spiritual goals can be achieved.
