Nawala Cushion Works was found in 1978 by Radampola Gamage Pemaratna, the present Chairman and Managing Director. Initially it was a very small scale business that started at a rented property with few employees. Day by day this tiny workshop grew up gradually but steadily in consequence of its dedicated customer service and durable high quality products. Today, this is a fully fledged manufacturing firm registered under Company Law of Sri Lanka with the status of private limited liability. BACKGROUND
The main business activities are upholstery works of automobile, manufacturing of automobile seats, carpeting of vehicles, upholstery works of automobile with genuine leather, making of jeep canopies, restoration of dashboards, manufacturing of Double Cab Covers, making of door boards and hoods, upholstery works of furniture, fixing of transparent stickers and automobile accessories like car mats, air fresheners, steering wheel covers etc. Nawala Cushion Works (Pvt) Ltd. is a registered supplier of the Sri Lanka Government and its Departments. More than 30% of the turnover is accumulated from the government institutions. Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police and Bank of Ceylon are among the top ten customers. Toyota Lanka, the main importer of Japanese vehicles to Sri Lanka, tops among the private institutions. The company today undoubtedly recognized and honored as the pioneering entrepreneur in this industry in the domestic market. There are approximately 100 employees directly employed by the company on permanent and contract basis to date. Many of them are experts and particularly highly experienced in its field. Coupled with, many qualified managers and subordinates to lead them to accomplish the company goals.
