Crescamus Freemasons Lodge 7776 - Croydon, Surrey, Freemasons

Crescamus Freemasons Lodge 7776 - Croydon, Surrey, Freemasons Crescamus Freemasons Lodge No. 7776, meeting in Croydon, Surrey Briefly translated from Latin, it means “Increasingly we serve and we serve to increase”.

In the true spirit of Freemasonry, Crescamus Lodge, No. 7776 was born through Croydon Freemasons coming together. Masons from throughout Croydon thought that it would be beneficial for another Lodge to meet in the area. After careful consideration, the name Crescamus was chosen as it was included on the crest of the Borough of Croydon. The Lodge was duly consecrated on 23rd October 1961, and 139 M

asons attended the consecration. Of these, 16 were Founder members of the Lodge (out of 17 Founders altogether) and 12 were Consecrating Officers who were made Honorary Members of the Lodge. The rest were guests from other Lodges. In 2011, we celebrated our 50th anniversary and the Lodge continues to go from strength to strength. The Lodge, its members, and their families are very proud of its history and tradition and enjoy many memorable times together, both in and out of the Lodge. Our Lodge is old enough to have traditions which we enjoy and yet young enough not to be swamped by them. The ages of our members range from their 20’s to nearly 90, so there is no doubt that you will find someone you have something in common with! We have members from all different backgrounds. Some work in the building trades, railways, others in insurance and property. We also have an accountant, a postman, a mortgage broker, people in computing, a taxi driver, and many others. Crescamus Lodge members generally live in and around Croydon and surrounding areas including Addiscombe, Beckenham, Bromley, Carshalton, Coulsdon, Crystal Palace, Kenley, Purley, New Addington, Norbury, Selhurst, Shirley, South Norwood, Sutton and West Wickham. If you would like more information about becoming a Croydon Freemason and joining Crescamus Lodge please do not hesitate to contact us.

The annual Surrey Provincial Cathedral Service was held on Sunday 15th September at Guildford Cathedral. Members of Crescamus Lodge and their families were in attendance as Crescamus was honoured with the privilege of parading their banner. The Annual Service of Thanksgiving is one of the highlights of the Masonic year, a chance for Brethren and Companions and their families to get together at the beginning of the Masonic season and a rare occasion when members are encouraged to wear their full dress regalia in public. We're excited to announce that the full Discover Freemasonry video is now live on our website! 🎥

The film provides unique insight into what happens in a Lodge meeting, who the Freemasons are and what it means to be a Freemason, as well as stunning new footage of Freemasons’ Hall in London.

Dr David Staples, UGLE’s Chief Executive, said: "We wanted to create a film which not only explains our history, but showcases modern Freemasonry and reflects our status as one of the oldest social and charitable organisations in the world.

"I’m often asked what it’s like to be a Freemason and I hope this video will go some way to answering that question and provide insight into who we are, what we do, our history and our relevance in today’s society."

Freemasonry means different things to each of those who join. For some, it’s about making new friends and acquaintances. For others it’s about being able to help deserving causes – making a contribution to family and society. But for most, it is an enjoyable hobby.

For this week's , we're delighted to share the news that the Provincial Grand Lodge of Surrey completed their 2019 Festival Appeal in May and raised a phenomenal £3.3 million for The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Care Company (RMBI) 👏

Jonathan Spence, Deputy Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, was in attendance, alongside Ian Chandler, Provincial Grand Master for Surrey Freemasons, at a special banquet held at Guildford Cathedral ⛪️

The RMBI is a charity providing affordable care facilities for the elderly across the UK.

Ian Chandler said: "While giving priority to our appeal we have not ignored local charities who have received at least a quarter of a million pounds a year maintaining our support for the community of Surrey. This is something we should all be very proud of."
