Stephens Prototype Pedicab

Stephens Prototype Pedicab NSC parking charges, and Clevedon 2030 net zero are the other inspirations.

The Stephens Pedicab Prototype, inspired by Richard Stephens' public transportation system founded 1898 in Clevedon with AE-174, and now commemorated at the SixWays Roundabout.

The pedicab is a prototype! Now it's being modified for its NSC licensing evaluation. Speed will be capped at 15MPH. This will require a change to a much larger sprocket on the axel. The new ratio will not only bring top speed into the legal limits, but it will ncrease climbing power and battery life.

I'm pleased to report that NSC Licensing is taking the Clevedon Town Council letter of support seriously. While their first document is a work in progress and can't be shared yet, it does reflect their knowledge of the challenges and solutions.

Thanks to an unanimous votes by our Clevedon Town Council

on Wednesday 6 March, NSC can now work to license a fleet of a dozen Stephens Pedicabs! Armed with this CTC letter of support, their popular mandate requirement is satisfied. Believe it or not there was no opposition regardless of party, creed, or ideology when it comes to the Stephens Prototype Pedicab.
Clevedon Pier, Clevedon Civic Society, and Jane Lilly all wrote letters of recommendation, but most persuasive perhaps were the unlikely allegiances of:
Tom Vaughan and Andy Neads
David Shopland and Hannah Young
Sustainable Clevedon - a Transition Town and Clevedon Cars & Coffee®
Who all agreed in their endorsement of the Stephens Prototype Pedicab!
