Is this Heavy Recovery Truck like Marmite to you? You either love it or hate it.

Boleyn Recovery & Fleet Services has taken delivery of a new DAF XF 530 fitted with a Boniface 9055 Recoverer, and it’s already turning heads in the recovery industry. This vehicle has been designed in collaboration with Boniface to push capability further and introduce a number of features that we believe are a genuine first for a truck of this type.

The vehicle is fitted with twin 50,000 lb main winches and RXP deployable legs, each equipped with 35,000 lb winches. The RXPs can also be deployed to the rear of the vehicle via additional fairleads mounted on the top boom, allowing for rearward pulling and stabilisation when required.

The aim of the build was simple: increase lifting and pulling capability while improving operational flexibility for complex recoveries.

One of the most noticeable design changes is the body profile. Traditionally, recovery vehicles feature a stepped-down body behind the boom. On this truck we deliberately broke that convention and designed the body to remain level along the top.

The purpose of this was to maximise stowage capacity and reclaim valuable storage space that would otherwise be lost with the installation of the RXP system. It’s a different look, and it’s already generating mixed feedback across the industry — but for us the increased equipment capacity and practicality made it the right decision.

The second unique element is the control system. The truck has been fitted with two independent remote-control systems — one operating the standard recovery equipment and the other dedicated to the RXP legs and winches.

This allows operators to work more efficiently on complex recoveries and is believed to be the first time this configuration has been fitted to a Boniface recoverer.

This truck was built with one goal in mind: to give Boleyn Recovery even greater capability when dealing with large and complex recoveries on behalf of our customers.

Boleyn Recovery & Fleet Services Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to support operations at our Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) and Tachograph Centre

Location: Boleyn Commercial Park, 77 River Road, Barking, Essex, IG11 0DS
Salary: £18 - £23 per hour + Overtime @ £27 - £34.5 per hour
Shift Hours between: 06:00 – 22:00
HGV Technician / Mechanic – ATF & Tachograph Centre

The role will involve carrying out high-quality HGV MOT preparations, pre-MOT inspections, and tachograph installations and repairs to help maintain our 100% first-time pass rate. You will also liaise with the DVSA and our internal bookings team to ensure smooth and efficient scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and inspect vehicles for DVSA MOT tests to meet required standards.
Maintain our 100% first-time pass rate through rigorous quality control.
Communicate with the ATF administration team and DVSA testers to coordinate testing schedules and ensure compliance.
Install and repair tachographs as needed (full training provided if required).
Ensure all work complies with the latest industry regulations and safety standards.
Manage and prioritise personal workload effectively to meet operational needs.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified HGV Mechanic (Level 3 or equivalent) with strong experience in vehicle inspections and MOT preparation.
Sound knowledge of DVSA testing standards and ATF procedures.
Experience with tachograph installation and repairs (training will be provided if necessary).
Strong organisational and communication skills.
A hands-on approach with a focus on high-quality mechanical work.
