The St. Andrew’s Church bus will return to its original route through Bawdens, St. Andrew, starting Sunday, March 19.
Word of this from the Transport Board following a final test run of a bus crossing over Bawdens temporary by-pass road on Tuesday, March 14.
Also, on-site to observe the test were officials from the Transport Board including the Terminal Manager of the Speightstown Terminal, Mr George Denny; Terminal Manager (ag) of the Princess Alice Terminal, Mr Hartley Davis; Chief Operations Officer, Mrs Lynda Holder and the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Works and Water Resources (MTWW), who is also the Parliamentary Representative for St. Andrew, Dr Romel Springer.
In April 2022, the St. Andrew’s Church bus service had to be re-routed after the Bawdens Bridge was deemed unsafe and consequently closed.
The Transport Board officials explained that due to the closure of Bawdens Bridge, some bus services to that parish were extended and re-routed. “The St. Andrew’s Church bus serviced one end of the Bawdens Bridge, while the Shorey Village bus serviced the other end. However, with the opening up of the temporary road, the St. Andrew’s Church bus can now be realigned to service its original route and this would remove the need for the Shorey Village bus route to be extended.” This means that travel time for commuters on the Shorey Village and St. Andrew’s Church routes will now be greatly reduced
The Transport Board wishes to advise you that a Sunday schedule will be in place for Monday January 02, 2023. Please be guided accordingly

Are In Safe Hands With Us
On this International Men's Day, we take the opportunity to recognize and appreciate ALL the men within our organization who make an invaluable contribution.
Particularly, we wish to highlight our Chief Executive Officer, Fabian Wharton for his continued commitment to improving the standard of operation at the Board. His exemplary interpersonal relations, sound negotiating and decision making skills have made us all feel in safe hands with him.
A few members of staff took the time out to say a few words of appreciation about the CEO...
The Transport Board applauds all of our male employees and acknowledges the contribution that they make to keeping the organization going. We have men in all categories such as general workers, security, Accident Officers, clerical staff, quality assurance team, artisans, operations and of course our drivers. However among these men sit a few of them at senior level such as our Financial Controller, Network Administrator, Terminal Managers, Quality Assurance Officer, Administrative Officer, and Stores Supervisor whose job includes supporting the senior management or falls within the management category. We wish on this International Men’s Day to thank them for the continuous work that they are doing. We salute you.
However, every organization needs a leader and the Transport Board acknowledges the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fabian Wharton, on this day. We thank you Sir for your ongoing efforts.
-Lynda Holder, Chief Operations Officer
He works tiredlessly to chart a new course for the Transport Board based on his vision to improve the employees circumstances and public access to transport!
- Gena Boyce, Operations Manager
To describe the CEO in a few lines is impossible, I'd need to write a book.
What I can say is, he is a breath of fresh air. A man filled with compassion, understanding and empathy. He is realistic, makes sound decisions and is an absolute joy to work with.
- Colene Willoughby, Executive Secretary
He is very down to earth, not too proud to apologise, to admit he is wrong or ask a question if he does not know something. That makes him a heck of a great person and CEO.
- Brenda Challenor, Accountant
He has a great personality and you learn alot from him. I like his management style, he is a great manager in my books... and that's the street version
- Robert Carrington, Quality Assurance Officer Ag.
In my assessment of our CEO, I find Mr. Fabian Wharton to be a friendly but firm and serious manager. I have seen first hand how he has turned around productivity in our Operations Department by reassigning staff in areas where they are more efficient.
During the volcanic activity he showed that he is not only effective in his management role with administrative duties; he was also hands on in the clean up assisting the staff at all of the Terminals.
He is also good at customer and staff relations and is easy to relate to. He has made great strides in his short time in my view and I wish him and the company success in the foreseen future.
- John Mahon, Operations Team
My relationship with Mr Fabian Wharton goes way back before he was the CEO of the Transport Board. We grew up close as our mothers were like sisters. His love of music started from a young age, influenced by his uncle. He turned that love into a business on the night club scene where I worked with him.
He was also a teacher but football was his passion. He successfully managed
Brittons Hill Football Club and was involved in every positive neighbourhood activity.
He is a very positive and humble man full of knowledge. That is just a bit of what I will share about the CEO but there is so much more which I leave for another time.
- Barry Davis, Operations Team
Let me thank you for being the strong, innovative, down to earth man you are.
Thank you for coming and mananging it all!!! Happy Men’s Day
- Shernell Kellman-Shepherd, Quality Assurance Team
"Leaders become great not because of power but because of their ability to empower others"
Mr. Wharton continues to empower staff from Maintenance to Management. The encouragement, consideration and humility he has shown, has boosted staff morale and empowered them to improve their work ethics.
- Karryn Webster, Marketing Team
Fabian Wharton, CEO of Transport Board! What can be said about him in just a few words?
In my opinion he is a breathe of fresh air to the organization. His down to earth approach to the workers is amazing. He applies the human touch to each and every situation when making decisions. The beautiful thing is that when he's unsure about something he is not too proud to reach out for guidance.
Rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty assisting the workers has gained him a level of respect that others have failed to achieve.
In conclusion I must say that you are the best Manager I have worked with. I will always seek to be supportive however possible.
- Frederick Bovell, Driver Trainer
Over the years I've always admired Fabian Wharton's achievements and commitment to success. I am extremely pleased to see the Board under his leadership. I've already seen evidence of the real change he is capable of effecting as CEO. Working with an equally effective and supportive team with his shared vision; something he can no doubt forge, I look forward to the transformation.
Keep up the great work!
