Wow. Realised this morning we're six months into the Daisy adventure already. How time flies!

It takes a village to raise a child. Turns out a Daisy's no different. Lots of people have contributed to keeping us going, growing and being busier than ever. Thank you all.

But for today we want to offer a particular thank you to our early adopters. The clients, their families and care providers/ care coordinators whose trust in us helped get the business off the ground.

And we're going to celebrate with a recent review from one of you. I love this one. It captures our ambition for the service to feel like "family, when family can't be there".

Driving at night can be tricky. Older eyes don't adjust to changing lights and night-time glare as quickly as they used to - particularly in the rain.

If you have parents who aren't confident driving at night, they don't need to miss out when you're too busy to help.

Over the last few weeks, we've taken clients to dinners and the theatre in the City, the North Shore and locally. We make it easy. We come to their door to help. Mobility aids like walkers and temporary chairs are loaded up with a smile - and we're happy to park up and help them at their destination too. If they need a hand into the foyer or all the way to their seat, we make sure that happens. And we can be there to bring them home again.

So, whether it's early-bird dinner at the local club or a Symphony at the opera house, if Mum & Dad are missing it because it means driving at night, please call us.

This Dementia Action week it is time to talk about dementia.

If you, or someone you love is living with dementia - or you have concerns or questions about changes you've observed - please talk about it. Your GP can be a great place to start.

Alternatively Dementia Australia provides great support. The 1800 number below connects you to a team who are ready to listen, and get you taking the right next steps.

(Daisy Drivers are all "dementia friends". As companion drivers for you, your loved one, or both, we're ready to help you get to local coffee mornings, dementia choirs, carers groups as well as any medical appointments).

Whether you're living with Dementia or caring for someone who is, please keep talking about it and stay connected. Not just this week. Every week.

We had a great morning at Arranounbai School's provider expo this morning.

Here's photo evidence of us setting up the stand!

A great opportunity to meet Parents of the school, some staff and a range of other providers.

Hats off to all the staff at the school. For a great morning, but more importantly for the incredibly heartwarming way Parents talk about the school. It sounds like a wonderfully supportive environment.

A lot of the conversations we had focused on the challenges families face when their youngster transitions away from their nurturing, supportive, familiar school environment. It's a big change. The right next steps need to be found and new schedules need to be built.

At Driving Miss Daisy, we're ready to help. We offer caring, consistent transport for young NDIS participants. A familiar face and a comfortable, easy journey can help make a new program or employment opportunity that bit less daunting.

For caring, consistent, considerate transport for NDIS participants locally please call Matthew on 0459 871 489

National Seniors Australia. Thanks for flagging this new video.

If you're confused about Support at Home funding for yourself or a loved one take a squiz at this. It might help answer a few of your questions

The Department of Health, Disability, and Ageing has created a video explaining how Support at Home’s short-term aged care options work and when they might be right for you.

We get a lot of questions from families, and we love answering them.

🌼 Is Driving Miss Daisy just for older people?
Not at all. We support people of all ages, including NDIS participants, people living with disability and anyone who could benefit from a little extra assistance getting where they need to go.

🌼 What if Mum or Dad get anxious in the car or need extra time?
That's completely okay. Our Daisies are chosen for their patience, kindness and care for the people they support. There's no rushing and no pressure, just someone happy to travel at their pace.

🌼 Do you help with more than just the drive?
Often, yes. Depending on the service required, a Daisy can assist someone to the door, wait during an appointment or help carry shopping, just to name a few ways we can help.

To learn more, please call 1300 324 791 (1800 DAISY 1) or visit drivingmissdaisy.com.au.

Many of the Families we support have someone who takes on the bulk of the organising and the family admin. Managing responsibilities for kids while also taking on more and more responsibilities for ageing parents.

If that's you then congrats. You're the filling in the sandwich in your family!

Sarah Macdonald's recent Compass has stories you'll recognise. It's nice to know you're not the only one! It's on ABC iview now.

And remember, if you're the organiser in your family and you need help with the logistics - getting Mum to the hairdresser, Dad to his regular appointments, whatever it may be - call us, we can help.

Your Local Daisy: 0459 871 489 National: 1800 324 791

Broadcaster Sarah Macdonald is caught in the sandwich generation, juggling work, ageing parents and kids. She meets the growing army of (mostly) women, copping the consequences of a housing and aged care crisis.
