With the minimum passing distance rule here to stay, this week's lets you know when it’s fine to cross the line. When travelling in speed zones of 60kmph and under you must give the cyclist 1 metre, and when travelling in speed zones over 60kmph you need to leave 1.5 metres. To help you keep a safe distance when passing a bicycle rider, you’re allowed to cross centre lines, straddle lane lines and drive on painted traffic islands, providing it’s safe to do so. Remember, stay wider of the rider!
