With summer on the way, keeping your body moving is one of the best ways to lift your mood, boost energy and support independence. The key is to make it light, enjoyable and suited to the warmer weather.

Try these ideas!

- Take a gentle morning or evening walk when the air is cooler
- Put on your favourite music and move along indoors
- Stretch in the garden or on the patio for a breath of fresh air
- Swim or dip your toes in the pool for exercise that keeps you cool.

At Driving Miss Daisy, we love helping our clients get to the activities that keep them active and connected.

What’s your favourite way to keep moving in summer?

As the days heat up, small daily habits can make a big difference in how you feel. Looking after your body helps you stay comfortable, safe and energised.

Wellness reminders:

- Hydrate: Sip water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty
- Protect yourself: Light clothing, sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat go a long way
- Eat fresh: Enjoy summer fruits and lighter meals for energy
- Rest smart: Take breaks in cool, shaded or air-conditioned spaces
- Stay connected: Call a friend, share a meal or enjoy a hobby - mental health matters too!

At Driving Miss Daisy, we care about your wellbeing year round and are here to help you reach the places, people and activities that keep you thriving.

Remember When…

Sunday night dinners brought everyone together - the table set, the roast in the oven and stories flowing as easily as the tea.

Sometimes it was Nan’s famous trifle, other times it was fish and chips by the beach. But no matter the meal, it was about laughter, connection and belonging.

At Driving Miss Daisy, we know that those simple traditions are what make life meaningful. We’re here to help our clients keep making memories with the people and meals they love most.

What was a favourite dish or family tradition from your Sunday dinners?

Remembrance Day

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served our country.

It’s a time to reflect not only on the past, but also on the values of resilience, community and care that continue to guide us today. Many of us remember attending services with school or family, wearing our poppies with pride and standing together in silence.

At Driving Miss Daisy, we believe in the power of connection and remembrance, ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of our servicemen and women are never forgotten.

Lest we forget.

Happy Grandparents Day!

Today we celebrate the love, wisdom and warmth that grandparents bring to our lives. From sharing stories that span generations to offering comfort in life’s ups and downs, grandparents hold a special place in every family.

Thank you for the lessons, the laughs and the endless cups of tea. You remind us that love, patience and a listening ear are some of the greatest gifts we can give.

To all the wonderful grandparents out there – you are truly cherished!

As we grow older, it’s important to remain active and socially connected so here are 4 ideas you or your loved ones may want to try!

Join a group – there are many options in most neighbourhoods such as library groups, community groups, church groups, craft groups and senior citizens associations. Find the one where members have similar interests to you.

Learn something new – why not try your hand at pottery, woodwork, art or photography? You could even have a go at learning how to use an iPad, smartphone or social media to stay in touch with your family and friends.

Get outdoors – go for a morning walk, start a veggie patch, go for a swim or take a hydrotherapy lesson. There are also many seniors’ fitness classes that can tailor a program to your own physical needs.

Enjoy a new hobby – have you ever wanted to learn about your family history? Perhaps you would enjoy creating a scrapbook of your photos and memories to share with younger generations? You could even record your memories on video and enlist the help of your grandchildren in creating a family movie.

At Driving Miss Daisy, we love helping our older clients to remain active and connected to their community with our companion driving service. For bookings and enquiries, please contact Greg at Driving Miss Daisy Everton Park on 0437 237 833 or email [email protected].
